CNC Machining & Assembly of Titanium and Stainless Steel Engine Mounts

When Lockheed Martin procurement and manufacturing fell out of sync they turned to Lx3 Corporation to meet critical deadline. With BF-1 roll out to Marine Corps just weeks away, Lx3 was given task to expedite manufacture of required components. These components included Aft Thrust Mount Clamp assemblies, Aft Side Link Assembly and Fwd Side Link Assembly. These assemblies were required install engine into the very first STOVL (Short Takeoff Vertical Landing) F-35 to be manufactured.

Materials used were 6Al-4V Titanium and 13-8 MO PH Stainless steels with all inspections and coatings applied to flight critical specifications. Lx3 performed all machining and assembly operations in house and coordinated outsourcing of all ...

Custom Development & Manufacturing Of G2 Fluorosilicone Injection Machine (G2-FSM)

Lockheed Martin Engineering contracted LX3 Corporation to handle the complete design, solid modeling, sourcing, manufacturing, and documentation of a G2 Fluorosilicone Injection Machine for a Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program. This piece of equipment was developed and fabricated in conjunction with our client to meet LX3 Corporation specs, and is used for injecting sealant into various passageways on an F-35 JSF during assembly.

To begin this project, LX3 first designed this machine based on conceptual CAD models using Solidwork files. We also perform all part and material sourcing. After final designs for this equipment are approved by our client, we combine our CNC machining, welding, and assembly operations to manufacture ...

Development & Manufacturing of X-37 Space Plane Flaperons & Ruddervators

Since 2004, LX3 Corporation has been involved in the process development and manufacturing of Boeing's X-37 space plane Flaperons and Ruddervators. These complex assemblies serve as the control surfaces for the X-37. All components are constructed of carbon/carbon composite with an outer ceramic conversion coating. These materials are needed to survive the high temperatures of re-entry from outer space. The program was originally started by NASA, and was then transferred to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). LX3 Corporation was subcontracted by Carbon Carbon Advanced Technologies (C-CAT) to work on this project.

Our areas of involvement for this program include:
  • Design and manufacturing of ...

Product Development & Precision Tooling for Pest Control Bait Stations

VM Products, a company that develops and markets a line of pest control products, contracted LX3 Corporation to provide the final product designs for a series of bait stations. We also designed and manufactured the injection mold tooling for this product line, meeting ultra-tight tolerances as close as ± 0.0003".

LX3's involvement with this project included:
  1. Final product design of RBS1, MBS1, and FBS1 based on customer concept
  2. Design of 5 separate injection mold tools used to produce these products
  3. Completion of all customer requested part and tool revisions
Our customer’s product line continues to be a big success and VM Products has established themselves as a leader in the pest control industry.

Precision Tooling & Custom Manufacturing for HyFly Missile Program

The HyFly program was initiated in 2002 by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) and the U.S. Navy's ONR (Office of Naval Research) to develop and test a demonstrator for a hypersonic Mach 6+ ramjet-powered cruise missile. Prime contractor for the HyFly missile was Boeing, while Aerojet built the sustainer engine. The vehicle was air-launched from an F-15E aircraft, and is accelerated to ramjet ignition speed by a solid-propellant rocket booster.

The sustainer engine of HyFly is a so-called dual-combustion ramjet (DCR). This complex experimental engine was constructed of carbon/carbon composite with ceramic conversion coating. Lx3 involvement in this project spanned 6 years and pertained to Ramjet sustainer ...
